Epic Speed Eating At The Qualifier Round Of Cathay Malls’ Epic Eater 2016

The qualifying round of Cathay Malls’ first ever eating competition – Epic Eater 2016 saw a jaw-dropping display by close to 40 gutsy and enthusiastic competitors putting their mouth and stomach to the test as they chowed down 2 maki rolls from Maki-San at epic speed!

The top qualifier, Phoa Yew Hiong, ate his way into the finals by polishing off two Maki-San rolls in an astonishing 1 minute 4 seconds, a whopping 17 seconds ahead of the next qualifier, Lim Jing Ming. Yew Hiong and Jing Ming, along with the other 18 eaters who clocked the fastest timings at the Qualifier Round will be competing at the Finals on 6 Aug at The Cathay, to vie for the grand prize of $1,000 and more than $300 worth of Cathay Cineplexes movie vouchers and Maki-San vouchers.

Stakes are high and so is the number of maki rolls they’d have to devour! Finalists will be challenged to finish four maki rolls instead of two.

Equally highly anticipated at the Finals is the eating showcase by professional competitive eaters Zermatt Neo (28) and Sarah Ow (28), who’ll be flaunting their eating prowess by gobbling a total of eight maki rolls, into the Singapore Book Of Records.
