All You Need to Know About Eyebrow Embroidery
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT EYEBROW EMBROIDERY
“I woke up like this” starts with a set of well-groomed eyebrows.
Never underestimate the eyebrows. They play an integral part in enhancing your looks. A set of well-groomed eyebrows accentuate your eyes, refine your looks and correct your facial flaws.
Most of us are not born with perfectly arched and defined eyebrows. So thank goodness for the invention of eyebrow embroidery to aid us in achieving a beautiful set of natural looking brows!
If you are considering or if it is your first time getting an eyebrow embroidery, this article will be helpful in getting you prepared for the session.
DO YOUR RESEARCH
Something that looks good on another person, does not mean it will have the same effect on your face. Different eyebrows fit different face shapes. It is important to understand your face shape first before determining the brow shape. To know what’s your face shape, pull your hair back and mentally draw the outline of your face.
Knowing what you want or like will be helpful in crafting the perfect brows for you. Upon arrival for the session, show your beautician your preferred style and ask for her opinion. This quickly helps her understand your preference, allowing her to effectively provide her advice.
WHAT TYPE OF EMBROIDERY SHOULD I GET
There are many different types of procedures. Other than understanding what best suits your face, it is importabnt to know the difference between the various procedures.
6D Embroidery – Replicates the natural brows using extra fine needles and delicate strokes. It gives better definition and depth.
Gradient Embroidery – Mimics the look of the eyebrow drawn with eyebrow pencil.
There are many other types of procedures, read up, and talk to the beautician for advice.
THE PAIN IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE UNBEARABLE
Numbing cream will be applied on your brows prior to the treatment. This cream greatly reduces the pain.
Based on our own experience, you will not feel the needle at the start of the session. As the treatment progress, you may start to feel a slight poking of the needle after a while. This is bearable. However, if you have a lower threshold of pain, and start to feel the discomfort, you can always ask for the reapplication of numbing cream. The beautician will gladly accede to that request.
LET THE BEAUTICIAN KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS
Eyebrow embroidery is not the same as tattooing, while tattooing is permanent, eyebrow embroidery is a semi-permanent make up. It involves the implantation of pigment beneath the surface of the skin in a way that makes it look like hair strokes. The good thing about it is, it’s made to be long-lasting, but this also means you’ll have to live with it for quite a while should you end up with a brow shape or style which you do not like.
So, make sure you walk out of the salon satisfied. Don’t be afraid to voice your concerns, and discuss areas which you think need adjustments.
YOUR BROWS WILL BE DARKER AT FIRST
It is absolutely normal for your brows to appear dark, or even appear to have a slight swell or redness right after the treatment. Your brows will take a week or so to heal. After the scabs heal, a new layer of skin grows out and your brows will look more natural after. Don’t be alarmed if the scabs caused the colour of the brows to look uneven. This is due to the healing of skin.
AFTERCARE IS IMPORTANT
For quicker healing, apply cream/gel meant for post-eyebrow embroidery use. The beautician should be able to provide or advice. When washing your face, use a gentle soap, and avoid rubbing the brows area. Avoid going for facials, botox or any other facial treatments within the first month.
YOUR BROWS WILL LAST FOR 18 TO 24 MONTHS
How long-lasting the embroidered eyebrows is differs from person to person, and the aftercare you do. Most brows can last between 18 to 24 months. You will start to notice the colour fading from 12 months or sometimes even earlier.
Most treatment package will include at least one touch-up. It is best for you to go for your first touch-up about six weeks after your treatment. These touch-ups are crucial in helping your brows last for a longer period of time.
We can’t stress how important eyebrows are. So choosing the right salon/ beautician is essential.
